The tenacity and determination of Nigerian youths is a definitely force to be reckoned with. Since the #EndSARS protest began, youths have defied fear for their lives, abandoning their jobs and business to lend their time and energies to the struggle.
Yesterday, the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike banned protests from taking place within the states. According to Governor Wike, the government had already granted the wishes of protestors. Hence, he didn’t see any need for protests within his state again.
“The Rivers State Government hereby wish to inform the general public that all forms of protests have been banned throughout the State.
Therefore, all proposed protests under #EndSars Campaign are hereby prohibited.” he wrote on Twitter.

Government took this decision because the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had already scrapped the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
Therefore, there is no need for any form of protest against a Unit of the Police Force that no longer exists.

Parents and Guardians are therefore advised to ensure that their children or wards do not violate this order.
Law enforcement agencies are also directed to ensure that the ban is enforced and that violators are brought to book.

Many human rights bodies, activists, and citizens reprimanded Wike, reminding him it’s the rights of the people within The Constitution to gather anywhere and protest.
Gov. @GovWike, You have no Right to ban a Constitutional Right!
People possess the inalienable right and freedom to peacefully protest on any issue.#SARSMUSTEND #EndPoliceBrutality https://t.co/QiFusFOt3c

You can’t contract citizens right under Section 40 of the Constitution 1999. Your duty is to protect them and their rights.
You’re simply joking, Nyesom https://t.co/cq4kTn7gXM

Despite the explicit order not to protest, a mammoth crowd of gathered today in Rivers State in protest against police brutality.
