On Tuesday, 19th March 2019, Huawei held a summit for its enterprise partners. The enterprise arm of the company is the solutions part of the business. They join partners to provide cloud services, telecom networks, smart devices and IT technology.
The Huawei Nigeria Eco-Connect 2019 had the theme: Leading Connectivity and Intelligence, The Road to Digital Transformation. In attendance were the various partners of the enterprise division of the company in Nigeria. The event saw awards and recognitions handed out to appreciate the partners for the past business year in 2018.
Goals
The company is looking to create more awareness in Nigeria with 45 events slated for the year. They are exploring more incentives for partners and looking to lead the digitisation industry. They also promised more training and higher rebate rates to their business partners.
Huawei is looking to invest greatly in the African continent, with Nigeria being a huge focus. Matamela Aubrey Mashau, the Chief Technology Officer of Huawei Sub-Saharan Africa identified that the company is successfully winning global users’ trust and recognition. The company has so far provided customers with comprehensive network solutions and products. They have the first E2E 400G Wide-area network solutions.
Mashau explained that most banks now use their cloud technology and the latest WiFi 6 for a faster and more efficient network system. The industry’s first data centre switch, built with 48 ports, sees each port with a 400GB capacity. The switch is also very smart and built with Artificial Intelligence technology that can detect faults within seconds.
He added that they are major players in the government space around the world. This would be evident in the activities that have brought them under severe scrutiny and sanctions by the US government.
Meeting Ken Zhao
In an exclusive interview with the Director, Huawei Nigeria Enterprise Channel Department, Ken Zhao, he declined to comment about Huawei’s brawl with the United States. He, however, referred Plat4om to an interview between the Chairman of the company and the BBC. Zhao said,
“I want to refer you to see the interview between the BBC and my chairman. It’s public. He talked about Cyber Security, and answered all the questions there.”
Zhao, who has been in Nigeria for over five years, oversees all the channel businesses in the Huawei enterprise group. He explained that Huawei Enterprise Business was looking to expand in Africa by employing over 1000 staff in the Nigerian office. They also have 2 major exhibition centres in Lagos and Abuja.
Huawei Solutions Architect, Mr Oluwaseyi Babjide, introduced the Huawei flash only promotion launch during an exhibition where they shared $200 worth of free cloud storage. Also, giving a progress report were CEO, Huawei Nigeria, Frank Li and CEO, Huawei Nigeria Enterprise Business, Tank Li.
The partners in attendance were Galaxy Backbone and Cyberspace who offer a range of services on behalf of Huawei, including the Huawei Smart Online Support. They also have partners like Micro Access, Technology Distributions Limited, Tenece, Triple U and Cloud Exchange West Africa which has the highest Huawei certification of 64. Other partners at the event were Suburban Fiber Company Limited, Streamline Acquisition Limited, Boxize TL, Commercio Limited, Data Flex and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, the awardee of the ICT Academy of the Year award at the event.
