Authorities in Zambia recently banned SX Energy Natural Power drink. This comes after laboratory results showed that it contained the active ingredient of Viagra.
Sildenafil Citrate is a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction and dispensed under the brand name Viagra.
Revin Zambia produces and exports the drink around the region. In Uganda, a consumer recently complained of a prolonged erection and profuse sweating.
The authorities in Ndola, Zambia, where the manufacturer stays, made a statement on Wednesday, 20th March 2019. They ordered “a product recall of natural high energy drink SX”.
Ndola city spokesperson Tilyenji Mwanza said in the statement that results from Zimbabwe and South Africa correlated with those from tests conducted in Zambia. They indicated “a positive presence of Sildenafil Citrate”.
In December 2018, the medical regulatory authority said that the drink contained Sildenafil Citrate.
