Charting on many social media timelines before its due date, Davido’s new album ‘A Better Time’ comes on the heels of his previous album, ‘A Good Time’.
While ‘A Good Time’ features artists both local and international. The album boasts of a rich blend of Naija vibe, South African and afro-pop from the Kenyan group, Sautisol.

I am allowed to say this article is a personal review about Davido’s new album and some individual songs on the album. I am no professional in music production, just a guy with happy feet ready to dance to some nice beats, rhythm and flow.

A Better Time album art, revealed the face of Ifeanyi, David’s son. While many awed at the romantic way of debuting his son’s picture on social media, A Better Time before its launch date had been massively compared to Wizkid’s Album, Made In Lagos.

This body of work opens with a familiar track ‘Fem’. Davido’s cocky act of naming the album ‘A Better Time’ is evident on the boastful piece. “A Better Time” had 15 million streams in less than 10 minutes on Audiomack,, but this is due to the fact that streams from ‘Fem’ and ‘So Crazy’ were included. Regardless, the album is still doing crazy numbers on Audiomack.

My favourite track as at the time of penning this piece is ‘Holy Ground’. Produced by SperoacHBeatz, the sound feels like a blended mix of whiskey and milk. Nicki showed a high class of creativity and talent. The album is big on steel drums and horns, the closing track featuring deserves a special mention. Featuring Kenyan pop singers Sauti Sol and a sampling of British soul group Sade’s 1985 hit ‘The Sweetest Taboo’. The track pushes a swinging of your feet to match the beats, and if you prefer showing some skills while seating down, then so be it.

Several factors are considered to make good music. Melody, harmony, rhythm, lyrics and whatever you might consider makes good music. ‘A Better Time’ lacks deep resounding lyrics. The album gives an insight to a convincing artist with happy songs, pop music and afro-vibes.

Not to blow it out of proportion, ‘A Better Time’ jazzes you out of the current problems in the country.
