In September 2020, Mariah Carey released her memoir. There she detailed a tumultuous relationship with her mother, brother, and sister, Allison Carey who’s eight years older.

In a chapter named “Dandelion”, Carey alleged that Allison drugged her with valium when she was 12 years old. She also alleged that Allison forced her to be in vulnerable situations with older men, including a car ride with one of the elder sibling’s boyfriends, who was carrying a gun.

Mariah Carey also says her sister burned her with scalding hot tea at age 12.

“She burned my back and my trust. Any faint hope I’d held up to that point of having a big sister became scorched earth,” Mariah wrote in the chapter. “Alison has burned me in many ways and more times than I can count. The promise of her life was squandered in a tragic series of cheap bargains rather than being redeemed through the difficult, lifelong work of recovery and rebuilding oneself.”

Now, Allison in a two-paged lawsuit is requesting $1.25 Million in damages from Mariah’s “heartless, vicious, vindictive, despicable and totally unnecessary public humiliation” of her in the book.

The 59-year-old who’s representing herself in court claims she suffers from different health challenges including depression, PTSD, loss of memory, and no vision in one eye following an “unsolved home invasion” 2015. Despite knowing all of these, Mariah still “used her status as a public figure to attack her penniless sister, generating sensational headlines describing lurid claims to promote sales of her book,”.
