Toyin’s new car purchase comes on the heels of the controversy trailing the sources of income of Nollywood’s female stars in recent times.
Nigerian rapper Ruggedman had provoked the controversy after he put out a tweet where he wondered why women in the country’s movie industry are doing better than men.

Toyin Abraham, however, came to the defence of Nollywood actresses in an Instagram post on Monday 8th February in reaction to the rapper’s comment.
She also slammed critics who are fond of attributing the success of actresses to their s*xual prowess with men.
“It is a little bit sad that many people on social media leeched on it with many derogatory comments about women especially those of us in Nollywood. It is important that I put this out there.
Many women make money and make good money legitimately. I know actresses who charge 2 million, 3 million, and 5 million in this Nollywood. I get paid in millions of naira for gigs.
As a matter of fact, I just paid for a very good car worth millions of Naira. At the same time, I know a lot of men in Nollywood who are doing extraordinarily well and paid in millions”. Part of her post read.
In 2019, the actress bought herself a Mercedes Benz car after she welcomed a son with her hubby.
