American actor, director, and singer Jamie Foxx has been confirmed to play Mike Tyson in an upcoming Martin Scorsese-produced mini-series.
The Oscar award-winning actor will play Mike Tyson in series based on the life of the boxing legend. Jamie Foxx will also executive co-produce the series alongside Tyson and his wife while Antoine Fuqua will direct.
The series was initially meant to be a film and was to begin filming before the pandemic halted all plans.
Scripted by Colin Preston and its producers reveal it will “span the life of one of the most legendary boxing figures of all time”.

“I have been looking to tell my story for quite some time,” Tyson said in a statement. “With the recent launch of Legends Only League and the excitement from fans following my return to the ring, now feels like the perfect moment. I look forward to collaborating with Martin, Antoine, Jamie, and the entire creative team to bring audiences a series that not only captures my professional and personal journey but also inspires and entertains.”
Jamie Foxx who won an Oscar for playing musician Ray Charles in 2005 confirmed back in 2020 that he would be playing Mike Tyson.
“It’s a definitive yes,” he told Birnbaum. “Doing biographies is a tough thing. Sometimes it takes 20 years to get it done but we officially got the real ball rolling. I can’t wait to show people what it is.”
The series tentatively titled “Tyson” is yet to be attached to any TV network.
