Bruno Iwuoha went public with his ailment in 2015 during an interview with Brekete Family, on Human Rights 101.1 in Abuja.
On the show, he shared he didn’t even know he had diabetes until an arm robbery attack sent him to the hospital. The actor said he’d lost sight in his right eyes at that time and was struggling to get treatment.

“I’ve gone to so many places; within the country, outside the country for treatment, until finally…finally, the thing [diabetes] claimed one of my sights (eyes). As I look at you now, I’m using only one sight (eye). They call that glaucoma.” he said on the show.
“And gradually, it’s affecting the other one. I discovered that this thing [the illness] is a lifetime something. And it has robbed me of the job [acting]. And now, if I get a script, it will be hard for me to read it very well, and if I read it, if I strain my eyes for so long, it would look as if someone would lead me around the house or anywhere I want to go because it will affect the only one [eye]. So that’s my problem.”
According to reports, Bruno Iwuoha had been in a coma for three weeks at the National Hospital, Abuja before he passed on Saturday morning.
The actor was one of the most prolific thespians in Nollywood. He has over 500 films to his name including World Apart, Magic Cap, Keeping Close, Another Bondage, Faces Of Love, and many more.
Iwuoha won Best Supporting Actor award at the 3rd Africa Movie Academy Awards for his performance in the movie “Sins of the Flesh”.
Our condolences to his family on this irreplaceable loss.
