HBO’s “Game Of Thrones” Prequel Kick Off Production

The news fans have been waiting for is here; “Game of Thrones” prequel is official in the works.

Game of Thrones' Prequel 'House of the Dragon' Begins Production

The news was annouced via the official Game of Thrones Twitter handle as it posted a photo of some of the cast and crew at the official script reading.

The prequel; House of the Dragon will tell the story of House Targaryen and fill in some important story on the Dragon Queen Daenary’s and Westeros.

 

It sheds light on the fall of the Targaryen rule and how the Dance of the Dragons civil war began. Fans will also discover the origin story of some of the strongest houses in the Game of Thrones universe.

 

Not only that, the story of how Kings Landing was built will feature in the new series.

The prequel is written by Game of Thrones writer George RR Martin and Colony creator Ryan Condal based on RR Martin’s accompanying book “Blood and Fire.”

 

For the cast, Truth Seekers actress Emma D’Arcy will play Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, while The Outsider star Paddy Considine will portray King Viserys Targaryen.

Matt Smith will play Prince Daemon Targaryen, the king’s younger brother while “Harry Potter’s” Rhys Ifans is playing Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King to King Viserys. “Ready Player One” actress Olivia Cooke is taking on the role of Otto’s daughter, Alicent Hightower.

 

The series is set to premiere on HBO in 2022.
