Rumour has it that Adele, 30, and husband Simon Konecki, 45, have ended their relationship. Her representatives, Benny Tarantini and Carl Fysh, confirmed the news in a statement to the Associated Press on Friday evening.
“Adele and her partner have separated,” her representatives said.
Adele is a Grammy, Academy and Golden Globe-award winning singer-songwriter. She has sold over 100 million records. Konecki is the CEO of a charity, Drop4Drop, which campaigns to provide clean water in poor countries.
He married to Clary Fisher in 2004, and they split in 2008. The estranged couple also has a nine-year-old daughter. At some point, speculations were made that Adele was the reason for his first marriage breakup. However, the “Hello” crooner debunked the rumours in a public statement on her website. She clarified that Simon was divorced for four years before they met.
Adele and the charity entrepreneur had begun dating in 2011.
The singer is notoriously private about her relationship. The Grammy Award winner and her US-born CEO husband had been together for over eight years. Although they supposedly married in 2016, they never confirmed their marriage until 2017.
She confirmed her marriage on stage after she picked up a Best Album Award at the 2017 Grammys. While giving a speech, she said, “I’m married! My husband, my son, you’re the only reason I do it.”
The pair have a 6-year-old son, Angelo James. They had him in 2012 and are committed to co-parenting and raising their son together lovingly, even while separated.
According to her spokesperson, there will be no further comment on the matter.
Adele wrote a number of hits after a break-up. The singer mentioned that she wrote her hit-album 21 over a three-month period at the start of 2010 after a relationship had ended. However, the private singer didn’t reveal who the person was.
Fans are expectant about the release of her fourth album. According to NME, her next record is set for release in December 2019.
However, nothing has been confirmed. Paparazzi spotted the singer heading into a recording studio alone in New York without her wedding ring.
