1. Archer (2009)

Archer is a James Bond-esque animated comedy series that mixes spy drama with workplace antics. Hilarious on the surface, the show, however, deals with much stronger themes in its nine-season run. Archer is acclaimed for its creative direction and animation quality. The show has been renewed for an eleventh season.

2. Rick and Morty (2014)

In this animated TV show, Rick brings the most explosive of adventures to the otherwise boring life of his grandson, Morty Smith. They take trips into other dimensions where sometimes nothing makes sense. Laced with dark humour, this cartoon makes a strong point on how the obsessive desire to transcend humanity might come at the risk of having dysfunctional relationships.

3. Big Mouth (2017)

In this coming-of-age cartoon series, five seventh-graders, Nick, Andrew, Jessi, Jay and Missy go through puberty and the drama that comes along with it. These preteens are often visited and tormented by ‘hormone monsters’ as they explore their budding sexualities and deal with the changes of growing up.

4. South Park (1997)

South Park is by all definitions an amazingly daring series. With no specific plotline, this cartoon has continued to cause uncontrollable laughter for 22 seasons! Following the mischievous adventures of Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Eric Cartman, South Park has managed to get away with discarding all forms of political correctness. We don’t know if this animated town truly exists in Colorado, USA. But if it does, we would certainly love a tour.

5. Bojack Horseman (2014)

The show focuses on the lives of Bojack, Mr Peanut Butter, Diane, Princess Caroline and Todd, five adults dealing with personal and professional issues in “Hollywood”. But don’t let the cute names fool you. This show explores the toxicity that exists in the show business and how easy it is to make the wrong choices. It also portrays mental illness very aptly.
