Amazon’s music streaming service will now have a smartwatch app. The Amazon Music app will now be available on some Garmin smartwatches. The app will now allow subscribers to download and play music from their smartwatch.

People using the Amazon Music Prime subscriptions will have access to about 2 million songs available on Amazon Music. However, Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers will have access to the entire music library of 50 million tracks.

Garmin Ltd is an American multinational technology company founded in 1989. The company deals in GPS technology for aviation, automotive, outdoor and sports activities. However, they recently became a major competition in the smartwatch and activity tracker market.

Apart from Amazon Music, Garmin also works with other music streaming services. They first had the iHeartRadio app on the Garmin smartwatches. Consequently, Deezer joined and then, more recently, there was Spotify. However, it is not certain if Pandora, Apple Music or SoundCloud will come on the smartwatches anytime soon.

It may be a far cry to expect Apple Music on it. This is because Apple has its own range of smartwatches, and Garmin is a major competition.

The beta version of Amazon Music launched in public on 25th September 2007. By January 2008, the streaming service became the first music store to sell music without digital rights management from four major music labels.

Amazon Music is now available to download from the Garmin Connect IQ store.
