Android software researcher Mishaal Rahman claims that Google has found a way to make smartphones support two eSIMs, adding that the feature could roll out with Android 13.
While many may not really understand the benefit of having eSIMs over physical ones, you may recognise the improvements in phone designs since the world moved from SIM to nano-SIM. Likely the same improvement will be noticeable with the wide acceptance of eSIMs.
However, electronic SIM technology faces the issue of dual SIM, among other problems. Suppose you are used to having multiple SIMs; in that case, you may not be willing to just switch to using one eSIM. Also, pairing an eSIM with a physical one — as we have seen happen in some instances — defeats the initial problem.

Google’s solution is that Android 13 will feature multiple enabled profiles (MEP), which lets you switch SIM profiles on one eSIM. According to Rahman, the search engine company patented the tech in 2020, and references to it have appeared on Android Developers’ platforms.
One advantage of eSIM tech is that devices get more space for other components to be added as well as bigger batteries. However, despite what the leaker calls proof and evidence, Google has not said anything about the features that Android 13 will be launching with or even a timeline for the launch. So, it is probable that Android 13 may not come with it; we look forward to what the software developers have in mind.
