Apple has announced that its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will hold from 7th June to 11th June 2021. Like last year’s event, the 2021 edition will be an online-only event.

“We are working to make WWDC21 our biggest and best yet, and are excited to offer Apple developers new tools to support them as they create apps that change the way we live, work, and play,” Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of worldwide developer relations, said in a press release.

The announcement features a memoji character which could be significant in a way. The memoji character’s glasses show a reflection of the event’s date but while it could just be a reflection from their laptop. It could also be Apple finally looking to announce its long-rumored VR headset or AR glasses?

WWDC 2021

Apple typically uses the WWDC to announce changes coming to iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS. Sometimes it uses the event to show off new hardware too. Last year, it announced its Mac lineup’s transition to its own Silicon processors during the event. At the coming event, we could get details on the progress of that or even a new device, possibly the AR glasses.

In 2019, Apple announced the new Mac Pro at the WWDC 2019. During the WWDC 2017, it announced its HomePod smart speaker, updated iMac desktops, and a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro, so a new device announcement wont be very odd.
