At the time of the display’s release, it’s bad camera performance was confusing. Besides it top tier pricing, it came with the same camera as iPhone 11; a 12-megapixel sensor, f/2.4 lens, and A13 chip. It had no right to be as poor as it was, and it was the only feature of the monitor that disappointed during testing.
In a statement to The Verge, Apple spokesperson Jennie Orphanopoulos said about the update:
“an update to the Studio Display firmware is now available with today’s beta release of macOS Monterey 12.4. This beta update has refinements to the Studio Display camera tuning, including improved noise reduction, contrast, and framing.”
The Display Studio in question features a 27-inch 5K Retina display, three mics and six speakers with Spatial Audio, 14.7 million pixels, 600 nits of brightness, 1 billion colours and P3 wide colour. It has been described as the perfect work station monitor.
