Apple redesigns MacBook Air with M2 chip and more

Apple announced a redesigned MacBook Air at its WWDC 2022 along with a powerful M2 processor. Here are all the fine details…

The first thing you notice is that the company removed the traditional wedge design and replaced it with the squared-off finishing of the MacBook Pro. Then, it is quite thick (about 11mm) and will weigh 2.7 pounds when you get your hands on it, according to The Verge.

Still on the physical aspects of the new MacBook Air, it will be launching in silver, space grey, starlight gold and midnight blue colours.

Then, the laptop comes with MagSafe charging (Apple’s wireless charger) as well as two Thunderbolt USB 4 ports, and a headphone jack.

The M2 processor that powers it gives the basic model of the PC an an eight-core GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage space. However, there is a better model that offers 10-core GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. Note that both models can be extended up to 24GB RAM and 2TB of storage space.

Apple will start selling the MacBook Air 2022 M2-powered laptops in July but you can start making orders now from the product page to get ahead of the queue. For the 8GB/256GB version, you should have a budget of $1,199 while the 8GB/512GB model will set you back about $1,499.

The good news is that they will ship with chargers, with the basic version coming with a 30W charger and the other variant bringing a 35W dual-port USB-C power adapter.
