According to Apple’s 2022 Environmental Progress Report, the company detailed how much progress it has made in recycling production materials– nearly 20% of its materials are recycled resources.

In a 128-page document, the silicon valley firm sold itself as an environment-friendly product maker. It added that it had doubled its recycled tungsten, rare earth metals, and cobalt use.

Also, as part of its pledge to improve the environment, Apple will feature Earth Day content in Apple News, Apple Books, Apple Podcasts, and the Apple TV app on 22 April 2022, which happens to be Earth Day. Additionally, it will support an interactive AR experience on Snapchat focused on learning more about Daisy, Apple’s recycling robot.

Daisy was introduced in 2018, and it is capable of disassembling iPhones to recycle their parts. Since its introduction, it seems to have been working quietly behind the scenes. Here is a video by Sara Dietschy on the robot’s workings:

Recall that earlier this month, Apple had released a report on how its suppliers are also honouring their environmental vows by turning to green energy and looking toward sustainable power sources.

Also notably, a Bloomberg article spotlighted its partner, Jabil, selling green bonds to benefit the environment for the first time ever as a positive for Apple’s climate initiatives. You can read more about what the company is doing production-wise to reduce environmental degradation here.
