Apple is rolling out a new software update for the operating systems on HomePod, watchOS and, of course, the iOS. The iOS 12.4, which was released ahead of the new iOS 13, comes with a new iPhone migration option. It means users will have the ability to transfer data wirelessly. They can also migrate from an old iPhone to a new one during setup.

The new method will allow the transfer of contents like device settings, app data and photos directly from one iPhone to another without relying on the Cloud. However, apps would need to be downloaded again from the App Store unto the new iPhone. Apple has also added a password into the data transfer mix.

New iOS Updates

In the new operating systems update, Apple also re-enabled a Walkie Talkie feature on the Apple Watch. The tech giant briefly took it off to fix a vulnerability detected around the feature. It discovered that someone else could listen in to people’s conversations without their consent. However, Apple said it detected this quickly enough, even before anyone had to complain about it.

The Watch OS update now offers support for Apple Watch’s Electrocardiography (EKG) feature and irregular heartbeat detection to regions like Canada and Singapore. The HomePod smart speaker will also now work in Japan and Taiwan.

The beta versions of the iOS 12.4 have support for Apple Card which will be released soon. However, it is not yet accepting application payments for the card. But Apple employees are already testing the credit card and using it to make payments.
