Apple to start selling iPhones and iPads as subscription services

By late 2022 or early 2023, you will be able to own an iPhone and iPad via Apple’s hardware subscription service; here is what we know so far.

Although Apple already has had a 12-month payment plan for iPhones since 2015, the coming subscription service will be different. According to Bloomberg, who broke the news, this new service will have a monthly cost that will not be the same as the device price divided into 12 or 24 months.

There are not many details available yet, but the sub-service will offer an option to upgrade to new devices when they are released. The plan may also tie payments to an Apple ID account that will likely contain AppleCare or Apple One services.

While it may seem like a bad plan to offer iPhone as a subscription service when many people are willing to shell out the money outright, the company may have other reasons for doing this.

For example, offering a hardware subscription service will mean more recurring sales for Apple. Also, not everyone can part with thousands of dollars, and a sub plan could make it easier to buy products. Not to forget that with this move, Apple could get more people to use its payment service and also reduce the reliance on middlemen or stores.

The company has been working on the program for months now and could launch it in late 2022 or 2023. What do you think about this recent development?
