Popular Podcast app Pocket Casts have a new owner, Automattic. Pocket Casts will be joining WordPress.com as part of the family.
Automattic announced on Friday that it had bought the popular podcast app Pocket Casts.
This Acquisition will make it easier for podcast fans to discover new content and customize their listening experience.
WordPress announced that more than 80 million people in the United States listen to podcasts weekly.
Pocket Cast is quite popular, as it has its platform available across Mobile operating systems such as Android, iOS, the Web, Windows, macOS, in cars through Carplay and Andriod Auto, Smart watch via watchOS, Alexa, and Sonos.

The podcast company has been able to make money by monetizing through its subscription service Pocket Casts Plus.
Users are charged a monthly 0.99 subscription fee or $10 yearly to have desktop access and its Apple Watch App.
The podcast company was not doing so well at the beginning of the year, its public media board went to agree to sell the platform.
Pocket casts had a net loss for its 2020 financial year, hence the purchase to revival the business.
Co-founders Russell Ivanovic and Philip Simpson will still maintain their respective position as they join the family.
Parent company Automattic hopes WordPress and Pocket Casts will partner to build deep integrations with WordPress, com, and Pocket Casts.
