“We ride together, die together, bad marriage for life!”
This was Will Smith and Jada Pinkett on Friday, July 10, during their famous Red Table Talk where they cleared the air after singer August Alsina gave an interview alleging he had a romantic relationship with Jada Pinkett with Will Smith’s blessing.
In this episode of the Red Table Talk, Jada Pinkett admitted that it was true, she did have a romantic relationship with August Alsina. However, at first, she called it an “Entanglement.”
“Four and a half years ago… I started a friendship with August and we actually became really, really good friends,” she said. “And it all started with him just needing some help, me wanting to help his health, his mental state.”
“I got into an entanglement with August.” She added.
However, when Will pushed her to clarify what she meant by“entanglement” meant, she elaborated: “Yes. It was a relationship “
The Smiths were also going through a rough patch and had separated. “I was done with you,” Will said.
“You kicked me to the curb,” Jada Pinkett-Smith replied.
She however said that only she could give permission and not her husband. Will Smith. “I could actually see how he [Alsina] would perceive it as permission, because we were separated amicably,” she said. “I think he also wanted to make it clear that he’s not a homewrecker, which he’s not”

She was in a lot of emotional pain at the time, she said, and was looking for happiness outside of herself. But she doesn’t view what happened as a “transgression” at all.
“Through that particular journey, I learned so much about myself,” she said.
Speaking on the issue, Will said that while people may feel weird they were talking about it, its because they’ve learned a lot from their experiences.
“I think it could feel weird for people that we’re laughing and talking about it,” Will said. “But our experiences of working through it, fighting through it, talking through it and therapizing through it — I think that the ‘why now?’ is weird.”
The couple had apparently previously discussed the situation and August’s confession only spurred them to go public with it.
“Any relationship and trying to get to a deeper understanding of love is going to be forged in fire,” Jada said. “There’s no way around it.” Will responded in the affirmative.
