Nigerian comedian and filmmaker Bright Okpocha better known as Basketmouth is set to develop and star in Showmax’s second Nigerian original “Ghana Jollof”.
Basket Mouth announced the collaboration on his Instagram writing that the show will feature both Nigerian and Ghanaian actors.
“Ghanaians are our next door neighbours and both countries have always been intertwined in both music and movies. I believe in the mutual growth of the entertainment industry for both countries, I’m also incredibly passionate about the discovery and promotion of new talent and with Showmax at the forefront of promoting local African content, it is my belief that we’re set to unleash incredible new talent.”
“For those wondering why we went with Ghana Jollof, you’ll just have to watch the show and find out,” the filmmaker added.
The comedian will also executive produce the new series.

“Ghana Jollof” will be Showmax’s second Nigerian original after reality star and rapper Laycon’s reality show “I Am Laycon”
The BBNajia lockdown winner’s reality series peaked as the most viewed show on its first day on Showmax.
Onna Okafor, Showmax’s public relations officer in Nigeria, broke the news in a statement. According to the statement, the series which premiered in February 2021 had the highest first-day views for any show ever on the streaming service in Nigeria, including other popular reality shows like BBNaija and Mercy & Ike.
Meanwhile, auditions have already commenced for “Ghana Jollof”.
