Bill Cosby Released From Prison After Court Overturns His S*xual Assault Case

American TV mogul Bill Cosby has regained his freedom after the Virginia supreme court overturned his s*xual assault case.Bill Cosby freed from prison, his s*x conviction overturnedCosby, 83, had served three years out of his 10 years jail sentence for drugging and s*xually assaulting Andrea Constand at his home in 2004.

The courts however overturned the case on June 30th, saying his rights were mangled during his case and due process was not observed.

The verdict by the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court judges panel states that former Montgomery County District Attorney, Bruce Castor’s decision to prosecute breached an agreement he reached with Cosby.

According to reports, the actor had reached an agreement with the DA to testify in a civil disposition. This was in order to evade facing criminal trial. This agreement made Cosby give an incriminating testimony about drugging women. Castor in turn used his testimony against him in the trial.

“In light of these circumstances, the subsequent decision by successor D.A.s to prosecute Cosby violated Cosby’s due process rights,” the judges wrote.

The courts also faulted the use of five other women with stories similar to Andrea Constand’s as witnesses against Cosby.

Bill Cosby released a statement through his lawyer Andrew Wyatt thanking the courts for delivering justice finally.  “I want to thank the Supreme Court who saw the light and saw the truth,” he said.Bill Cosby ineligible for early prison release over coronavirus concerns - National | Globalnews.ca

“Mr Cosby was originally given a deal by Bruce Castor in which he was granted immunity. He gave up his fifth amendment rights in hopes that he would get back to work, back to life. And he always showed up for any legal matters and questions on his own accord. Charges should never have been brought against Mr Cosby,” the statement also said.
