OnwardMobility is Blackberry’s brand license to share information about its newest phones. The company partnered with FIH Mobile in August 2020 with the aim of producing a new phone.

As a bonus for its loyalties, Blackberry gives subscribers of the OnwardMobility program updates and features of upcoming Blackberry phones before they launch. Subscribers also have exclusive access to give input to be used on the phones.

Fans have been looking forward to Blackberry’s 5G smartphones, the once-dominant smartphone maker has not released a 5G phone yet. Generally, the phone maker now has niche followers, almost cultist to a point.

Will Blackberry be able to produce flagship and midrange phones that rival the likes of the Fold 3 and iPhone 13? It’s very likely we see the death of the qwerty keyboard design, and its operating system. 5G connectivity almost has to be featured, a 120Hz screen and high-end cameras.

In 2013, BlackBerry had more than 85 million subscribers worldwide. Its ‘pinging’ tone and flashing LED lights were the trendy thing during that time. The BlackBerry OS and its unique month-long subscription gave it an edge over other phones during the late 2000s and early 2010s.

It prides itself on security and mentions that it will not be working alone with BlackBerry. Foxconn Technology Group would be in charge of mass-producing the BlackBerry phones coming in 2021 through its subsidiary, FIH Mobile.

Meanwhile, there are no specifications to talk about and we only know that the BlackBerry phones will support 5G. There are many questions left unanswered. It’s 2021, OnwardMobility and BlackBerry still haven’t given us answers.

Our fingers are crossed as we wait for our first peek at the BlackBerry 5G smartphones coming in 2021, probably in 2022 by the look of things.
