BMW teases $800,000 ultra-limited 3.0 CSL

BMW M division CEO Frank van Meel announced a new 3.0 CSL car that will cost about $800,000, see more details here.

Meel revealed the new 3.0 CSL car on his Instagram page on June 27 with three photos; one of himself in front of the BMW and two others of the car alone.

At first glance, the car looks like an ordered customised version of a race car. However, it is actually the real thing. As Car and Driver blog mentions, it is part of the M division’s 50th-anniversary celebrations.

Besides the unusual look, the car will be very limited, and allegedly, only 50 of it will be made. And this is quite understandable as it is already in the running for the most expensive BMW ever made, with a price tag of around $794,000.

Its large kidney grille is somewhat toned down by its overall camoflague, which makes it bearable and less polarising than the M$ on which it was designed.

Although inspired by the M4 CSL, which is coming in 2023, the tattooed 3.0 CSL will have 600 horsepower (which is 57 more than the M4).

BMW Blog adds that the car will come with a six-speed manual gearbox and a rear-wheel-drive configuration. There is still no detail on what the engine’s torque will be as the car company is choosing to release info in short bursts to keep the excitement up.

However, we found somewhere else that the Modern 3.0 CSL could use the 3.0-liter inline-six engine, just like the M4 CSL. There is no detail on whether it would be available for order or if this is one of the on-demand only cars reserved for ultra celebs and company board members.
