Bollywood film “Mimi” is the remake of Samruddhi Porey’s National Award-winning film “Mala Aai Vhhaychy”, which was released in 2011.
“Mimi” is the story of a young girl (Kriti Sanon) who wants to become an actress. She also needs money to go to Mumbai and try her luck in the film industry.
With the help of a driver, Bhanu (Pankaj Tripathi), she meets a foreign couple who wants her to be a surrogate mother for 20 lakh.

Mimi agrees to the surrogacy plans because of her financial needs, but unexpected consequences follow. Weeks to her due date, the foreign couple absconds to America, after they are told that their child in Mimi’s womb may be born with Down syndrome.
Now Mimi has to drop her dreams of being an actress to look after a child she had no plans to nurture. She metamorphoses from the fierce agile dancer to the loving doting mother who will do anything to keep her son.
“Mimi” is a great attempt at bringing the issue of surrogacy to the centre stage. It also spotlights some of the flip sides of surrogacy that a lot of people are not aware of. This Bollywood film is a good watch and one you will enjoy seeing on Netflix.
