‘I Apologize For Pretending Like I’ve Been OK’- Britney Spears After Explosive Court Hearing

Britney Spears Addresses Conservatorship on Instagram
Spears spoke in court about the harsh conditions she’s been subjected to under the conservatorship programme.

Popstar Britney Spears returned to Instagram to apologise for pretending she was okay all the years she’s spent on the conservatorship programme after her explosive court hearing. On Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021, the singer had given an emotional speech in court spelling out how she’s been forced to work hours on end— something she likened to s*x trafficking—, given drugs against her wish, forced to dance and perform, and have been terribly depressed under the conservatorship programme co-managed by her father.

After the court hearing, she took to Instagram to say she wanted everyone to know she has been suffering.

I just want to tell you guys a little secret… I believe as people we all want the fairy tale life and by the way I’ve posted … my life seems to look and be pretty amazing,” she began on Thursday. “I think that’s what we all strive for!!!! That was one of my mother’s best traits … no matter how sh*tty a day was when I was younger … for the sake of me and my siblings she always pretended like everything was ok.”

The 39-year-old continued, “I’m bringing this to people’s attention because I don’t want people to think my life is perfect because IT’S DEFINITELY NOT AT ALL … and if you have read anything about me in the news this week … you obviously really know now it’s not!!!! I apologize for pretending like I’ve been ok the past two years … I did it because of my pride and I was embarrassed to share what happened to me … but honestly who doesn’t want to capture there Instagram in a fun light.”

Spears had spoken in court for the first time this week, outlining the harsh conditions she’s been subjected to under the conservatorship programme.

“I’ve lied and told the whole world I’m OK and I’m happy. It’s a lie,” Spears said at one point in her 20-minute speech. “I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatised. Fake it ’til you make it, but now I’m telling you the truth, OK? I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m depressed. I cry every day.”

She highlighted some of the conditions of the conservatorship, saying it would even allow her to have a baby.

“I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive,” Britney said. “I have an IUD in my body right now that won’t let me have a baby and my conservators won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out, I feel ganged up on, I feel bullied and I feel left out and alone.”

Britney also revealed she was put on Lithium against her will.

“It’s a strong drug. You can go mentally impaired if you stay on it longer than 5 months. I felt drunk, I couldn’t even have a conversation with my mom or dad about anything,”

“My dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship, including my management … they should be in jail,” Britney said. “My family didn’t do a goddamn thing.”

For the first eleven years of the conservatorship which started in 2008, her father Jamie Spears served on the role alongside a lawyer, Mr. Wallet who resigned in 2018.

This gave a father full rights and control over her life, money, and career.
