Popular Nigerian musician, Burna Boy has been nominated for the 2019 Grammys billed to hold in January. The Recording Academy announces the nomination for the 62nd edition on 20th November 2019.
The Grammys nominated “African Giant” in the Best World Music Album category. He was nominated in this category alongside Altin Gün for “Gece”, Bokanté & Metropole Orkest Conducted By Jules Buckley for “What Heat”, Nathalie Joachim With Spektral Quartet for “Fanm D’Ayiti”, and Angelique Kidjo for “Celia”.
Burna Boy’s Grammy Awards nomination follows the footsteps of some Nigerian artistes. Seun Kuti, Femi Kuti and King Sunny Ade have all previously attained this height.

Celebrities have since been congratulating the “African Giant” on his nomination. South African artiste AKA surprisingly also congratulated Burna Boy on twitter.

Burna Boy early this month became the first African artiste to sell out Wembley Arena in London. The event, which held at SSE Arena, Wembley in London, was another leg of the multi-city “African Giant Tour”.
The management of the venue gave Burna Boy a plaque in recognition of his feat. On the same night, he also won the “Best African Act’ award at the star-studded 2019 MTV EMA held in Seville, Spain.
