Burna Boy’s grandfather, Mr Benson Idonije, has predicted that the African Giant artist will win the 2020 Grammys. Mr Benson revealed that his grandson is the biggest artist in his category while in an interview with Punch Newspaper.
The Recording Academy announced the nominees for the 62nd edition on 20th November 2019. Burna Boy ‘s “African Giant” album was nominated for the “Best World Music category”.
The Academy nominated him in this category alongside Altin Gün for “Gece”, Bokanté & Metropole Orkest Conducted By Jules Buckley for “What Heat”, Nathalie Joachim With Spektral Quartet for “Fanm D’Ayiti”, and Angelique Kidjo for “Celia”.
Burna Boy’s Grammy Awards nomination follows the footsteps of some Nigerian artistes. Seun Kuti, Femi Kuti and King Sunny Ade have all previously attained this height.

Last week Sunday was the Future Awards Africa, and Burna Boy won big at the event, carting away two awards. The event took place at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel Lagos.
Founders of the award ceremony Debola Williams and Chude Jideonwo revealed the aim of the event. They initiated it to celebrate young people between the ages of 18 and 31, because of their outstanding achievement in the year under consideration.
Burna Boy won the Future Africa Awards 2019 Prize for Music and also the Young Person of the year awards. The man of the moment Burna has reacted to the award. He thanked the ceremony’s organisers on Twitter.
