The future exclusivity of Call of Duty on Xbox consoles is causing a big problem for PlayStation and its players. If you have been following tech news in recent times, this particular report is likely to broaden your understanding of the FCC pokes into acquisitions.
With Microsoft buying Activision, the publisher of Call of Duty, the biggest first-person-shooter game out there, it could corner all its players for its gaming console, Xbox, by making it exclusive.
If the deal had never gone through, this mess would not have been created.
In an attempt to not raise immediate dust about the acquisition, Microsoft told Sony that the game, affectionately called CoD, would remain available to PlayStation players for three more years. Note that PlayStation and Activision has an agreement that expires soon and would not be renewed.

PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan told GamesIndustry.biz, about the issue:
“I hadn’t intended to comment on what I understood to be a private business discussion, but I feel the need to set the record straight because Phil Spencer brought this into the public forum.
“Microsoft has only offered for Call of Duty to remain on PlayStation for three years after the current agreement between Activision and Sony ends. After almost 20 years of Call of Duty on PlayStation, their proposal was inadequate on many levels and failed to take account of the impact on our gamers.
“We want to guarantee PlayStation gamers continue to have highest quality Call of Duty experience, and Microsoft’s proposal undermines the principal.”
