Popular American rapper Cardi B might just get Nigerian citizenship. This comes after the US President, Donald Trump, ordered the killing of Iranian military commander, Qassem Soleimani.
Soleimani was killed on Thursday, 2nd January 2020, by US forces in an air raid at Baghdad International Airport, Iraq.
The killing of the head of Iran’s elite Quds Force subsequently generated a global conversation on social media. Many people argue that Trump’s decision is not just a threat to American citizens, but could also lead to World War III.
Cardi B is one of those who believe Trump’s decision to kill Soleimani has put Americans’ lives in danger. She, therefore, took to Twitter to express her fears and disclose her intention to get Nigerian citizenship.

Nigerians are already suggesting names for the Grammy award-winning singer and her daughter, Kulture. The “Bodak Yellow” artist was in Nigeria from Thursday 5th to Saturday, 8th December 2019, for the Livespot X Festival.
To say Cardi B came prepared to have fun in Nigeria is an understatement. A day after her arrival, she said she wanted Jollof rice and wanted to visit “the ghetto”. The rapper shared this on her Instagram story.
In an interview with Beat FM, Cardi B gave herself a Nigerian name, Chioma. She also accepted the Yoruba name, Ayo, for her daughter, Kulture. Later, upon returning to America, she posted “missing Nigeria” on her Instagram story.
Cardi B deserves honourary Nigerian citizenship for the way she comported herself while she was in the country. She loves the people, the food and was able to put Nigeria in good light even though she was only around for a few days.
