If you’ve been on Instagram recently you’d notice your timeline is flooded with women posting photos of themselves in black and white filter with the words “challenge accepted”.Women from all strata of life, from famous to not so famous, are posting photos of themselves in black and white.
They’re also nominating other women to post their photos as well with the same hashtag. Celebrities including Genevieve Nnaji, Tiwa Savage, Waje, Adesua Etomi, Beverly Naya, and other women in the entertainment industry have joined in the challenge, nominating others as they post their pictures.
While the origin of the challenge is unclear, the aim is to show solidarity and support for women worldwide.
The accompanying captions acknowledge the different challenges of women and seem to say “I see you, I hear you and I’ve got you.” The hashtag #womensupportingwomen also accompany the pictures as well as encouraging words to women worldwide.
