On 16th April 2019, at about 2 pm, the Nigerian police got a report that led to an arrest. A child bride, 15-year-old Hassana Lawan, attempted to murder her husband. They arrested her for allegedly poisoning him. Reports have it that she gave her 33-year-old husband, Sale Abubakar, food with rat poison.

According to Vanguard, the police command in Kano State arrested her and held her custody after the report. They arrested her in Bechi Village, in Kumbotso LGA of Kano State.

Daily Trust reports that the Command’s Public Relations’ Officer, Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Tuesday. They will carry out an investigation on the matter, after which they would charge the suspect to court.
