Nigerian comedienne and skit maker Ada Jesus has passed away after a protracted battle with kidney disease.
Harrison Gwamnishu, an activist who has been spearheading the campaign for her recovery, broke the news in a short post on his Instagram page on Wednesday 21st April.
“Thank you, everyone. Rest in Power Mercy Nmesoma Nnadi @adajesuscomedy,” he wrote.

It is understood that the 22-year-old comedienne, real name Mmesoma Mercy Obi, died at an Abuja-based hospital in the early hours of Wednesday.
The tragedy comes after a lingering face-off involving her, Rita Edochie, and Odumeje, a controversial Onitsha-based prophet was resolved.

Ada Jesus had last year accused Edochie of conniving with Prophet Odumeje to stage fake miracles.
The actress dismissed the allegations and went on to curse the comedienne for attempting to smear her reputation.
It was gathered that not long after the Instagram sensation made the allegations, she took ill and later became paralysed.
Edochie had earlier vowed not to forgive the entertainer, while the clergyman maintained the same stance, saying “nobody speaks against me and go free. I’m not a man that you can joke with.”
But in a recent post, the movie star said she had decided to forgive the ailing comedienne after several pleas from friends and fans.
Rita also said that the deceased’s predicaments had vindicated her of the allegations while she prayed for her healing.
“I am happy that the whole world has seen that Ada Jesus framed all sorts of lies and heaped on me. I have been vindicated by Ada’s predicaments. The good Lord has fought my battle for me,” she had said.
“I’m here to tell all of you that I have forgiven Ada Jesus from my heart of heart. But I want to sound a note of warning, it’s not for you to judge the man of God. Stop insulting men of God particularly my prophet, Odumeje. I’m comfortable staying with him, leave us alone.”
In the same vein, Odumeje announced that he had forgiven her while asking God to heal her.
Ada Jesus was born in 1998 and hails from Orlu in Imo state. She was a graduate of Imoe State University.
She started her comedy career in 2018 by posting skits on her Instagram page where she rose to prominence.
