Here’s how to make carrot oil in your home.
What you’ll need
- Five baby carrots
- Food processor or hand grater
- Crockpot
- Coconut oil, olive oil or sesame oil
- Strainer
How to prepare
- Wash and peel the carrot skin
- Use the hand grater or food processor to grate the carrots
- Pour the grated carrots in the crockpot, add oil of your choice and set the crockpot to it’s lowest temperature
- If you do not own a crockpot you can use a normal pot and place on electric low heat
- Let the oil and carrot steam together for as long as possible until the oil becomes orange.
- For a crockpot, make sure the heat does not exceed 100 – 150 degrees Fahrenheit
- Once the infusion process is complete, pour the oil and carrot combination through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth to extract the oil
Thrash the carrot bits and strain oil into a glass jar for later use.
