A bridal shower or bachelorette party is a pre-wedding party. It is held to honour the bride before her wedding day, and hosted by her close female friends.
It can be an opportunity to give her gifts and share jokes as well as advice as she is set to start a new home with her husband.
Usually, before the bridal shower takes place, friends of the bride select a venue. This venue can be the home of any of her friends or outdoor in a restaurant or a hotel.
The bridesmaids or other close female relatives are usually the hosts of the bridal shower. No matter who is hosting, be sure to communicate to make sure you aren’t planning two separate showers!
Also, a bridal shower should be a surprise party. So as not to kill the excitement, the bride is not expected to know anything about the plan.

Usually, the bridal shower happens two weeks before the wedding. But, the friends of the bride can choose a date that is convenient for both the bride and her guests of choice.
As with other pre-wedding events, the guest list contains names of people who are also invited to the wedding. For the bridal shower, this usually includes the bridal party, the bride, her sisters, sisters of the groom, close female cousins, female colleagues etc. The number invited depends on how large the event is to be.
On the day of the bridal shower, there should be food, drinks, some games, and an opportunity for the bride to open gifts surrounded by her guests. It affords the friends of the bride a time to have quality time with the bride before the wedding. In the midst of the funfair, they can brainstorm on some ways to make the wedding spectacular.
If the bride will be relocating to another state after the wedding to be with her husband, then the bridal shower could serve as her farewell party.
So if you have a friend who will be getting married soon, then you should start planning a fun bridal shower. Don’t wait till the wedding is very close before you start.
