Twitter boss Elon Musk has allowed former US President Donald Trump to return to the platform after a poll went in favour of the decision. He tweeted:
The people have spoken.
Trump will be reinstated.

Soon after, we could once again see Trump’s page and his tweets, although, it is not clear if he would resume tweeting or not. Hours after his reinstatement on the platform, he was yet to acknowledge it.
Also, it appears that his account was restarted as he used to have about 65 million followers before the permanent ban. As of when this article was published, the account had just one million followers.

Banned accounts have been a sensitive area for the new Twitter under the eccentric billionaire, although, he has always claimed to be in favour of the brand of free speech that let everyone have their say. Prior to the Trump account return, Musk had also said that accounts of Jordan Peterson, Kathy Griffin, and The Babylon Bee would also be allowed to return.
As for Donald Trump, he faces a dilemma because Twitter remains a major platform to reach people, which he needs if his 2024 presidential aspirations is to become a reality. However, returning to the microblogging site may hurt his own social media company, Truth Social, as e is the most famous person there and lots of users likely joined it to keep seeing his posts.
In April 2022, Trump had said that he would not return to Twitter even if his ban was lifted after Musk made the speculation that he may let the ex-president back in if he acquired the company.
These major decisions are in direct contrast with what Elon Musk promised a week ago when he took over the social media firm. At the time, he had said that major changes to content, policy and reinstatement of accounts will wait until there is a content moderation council. As it turns out, the Tesla boss is now making the decisions.
