Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said there could be a wider roll-out of a new ‘Full Self Driving’ software update in two weeks. The company had released a beta of the software in October 2020.
Tesla released the Full Self Driving software upgrade beta to an undisclosed number of ‘expert, careful’ drivers. Now it is planning on a wider release. “Probably going to a wider beta in 2 weeks,” Musk said on Twitter. The comment was in a response to a user asking if the software would be available in Minnesota.
@elonmusk can we get the #FSDbeta in Minnesota? Roads are dry and I’m happy to put it through its paces on our interesting roads.

Musk had earlier said Tesla had planned to release the latest upgrade widely by the end of 2020 with the system becoming more robust as it collects more data. The software enables Tesla’s Navigation on Autopilot feature to drive autonomously on city streets with driver supervision and would be a fantastic addition to the vehicle.
It can also take over from drivers to park, stay in a lane, cruise on highways, and stop at red lights. However, it has raised safety concerns from regulators. The regulators are saying they would ‘monitor the new technology closely’. They also pledged to take action to protect the public against unreasonable risks to safety.
