— Twitter Blue price is now $8, down from its $20 pricing, and it lets you keep your verification badge.
— Elon Musk says ‘Power to the people’ as he attempts to please majority of users.
Elon Musk has cut the price for keeping your verification badge to $8 from its previous $20. The former price had caused an uproar over the weekend after it surfaced on many news sites.
Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit.
Power to the people! Blue for $8/month.

The new Twitter boss has also changed his Twitter description from ‘Chief Twit’ to ‘Twitter Complaint Hotline Operator’ to describe his willingness to give the people what they want, starting with slashing the Twitter Blue price cut. However, despite the cut, we have seen some users who have refused to pay anything to continue using the app.

Note that the subscription is not just to keep the blue checkmark attached to your name but it will bring other perks of the premium side of Twitter. Musk tweeted:
You will also get:
– Priority in replies, mentions & search, which is essential to defeat spam/scam
– Ability to post long video & audio
– Half as many ads— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 1, 2022
In addition to the above advantages, Twitter Blue users will get access to paywalled content from partnering publishers and there will be a tag below their name which describes what they are known for.
While Elon Musk navigates the new terrain of pleasing people, there will always remain the cloud of content moderation, which has proven in the past to be a tricky topic. We wait to see how his plan will favour the majority of Twitter users.
The billionaire’s method of running Twitter ‘for the people’ may not last very long because there will come a time when he needs to firmly plant his foot, or will there?
