Elon Musk says Tesla Cybertruck can serve as a boat

Elon Musk has given the latest hint of the Tesla Cybertruck features, saying that the truck can serve as a boat briefly. According to him, this is due to its unrivaled waterproof quality.

Of course, as expected, the Tweet generated a lot of reactions with many calling it an outright lie. Some of the reactions were from people who claimed that vehicle would not even see the light of day. However, Musk explained that making the Cybertruck waterproof seemed to be a no brainer because it would have to cross the channel to get from ‘Starbase to South Padre Island’.

Since the vehicle was announced in 2019, it has been subject to several release date changes. Which is why people’s apprehension at any news regarding it is understandable.

According to Tesla website, there are three variations of the truck currently under production. Its expected pricing will range from US$39,900 for the rear-wheel drive (RWD) models and US$49,900 for the all-wheel drive (AWD) models. It is not clear if all the models will have the waterproof feature that Musk teased.

After its initial production schedule was moved from 2021 to 2022, the company later settled for a mid-2023 production date. Despite the doubts surrounding the making of the truck, Tesla Cybertruck pre-orders are said to have reached three million. In fact, the company had to pause receiving new orders and it will have to allegedly produce at unreal speed to complete its orders three years from when it starts mass manufacturing.
