Elon Musk has challenged Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal to a public debate over fake accounts on the platform. The challenge is the latest spin in the ongoing battle between the social media company and the richest man in the world.
Their issue has degenerated into a legal fight, following Musk’s refusal to honour the promise he made initially. As we have reported, the $44 billion deal was a win for Twitter’s shareholders who will see the individual stock rise. Also, as part of the deal, Musk boasted to be able to turn the company’s fortune around by increasing users and revenue.
However, he made a u-turn, which began as rumours, when he decided that Twitter was no longer worth the $44 billion. His reason was that the the company had too many spam accounts that could not be monetised.

With Twitter denying his claims and stating that spam and bot accounts were only about 5% of the total accounts on the platform, Musk asked them for permission for an audit.
Now, while the matter is in court, the billionaire has chosen to go the public route. In a Tweet, he wrote:
I hereby challenge @paraga to a public debate about the Twitter bot percentage.
Let him prove to the public that Twitter has <5% fake or spam daily users!

In addition to the Tweet, Musk also ran a poll for users to vote on whether ‘less than 5% of Twitter daily users are fake/spam’ and about 65% of users believe that the answer is no.
