Enter For The Huawei Next-Image 2020 Photography Contest And Win A Huawei P40 Pro + $10,000

Huawei has announced the beginning of its photography competition, read on to find out how you can enter for the Next-Image 2020 Photography Contest with a chance of winning $10,000 and a Huawei P40 Pro.

The Chinese smartphone makers are pioneers of stunning camera capacities. You likely recall how the Huawei P30 Pro shocked the world with its clear 50x digital zoom ability.

The firm has always seemed passionate about photography. This is why it is holding another edition of its photo contest in 2020.

The new edition follows after the success of the 2019 version last year.

According to GizChina, Magnum Photos’ Steve McCurry, Alec Soth, Gueorgui Pinkhassov, Bieke Depoorter, and Pulitzer Prize winner LIU Heung Shing had picked the five category winners in 2019.

However, only Steve McCurry maintains his place on the judging panel this year. Photographers such as: Reuben Krabbe(Canada), Elizaveta Porodina (Russia) and Karolina Henke (Sweden) join him at the table. In addition, two Huawei executives Andrew Garrihy and Li Changzhu make up the judging panel.

Following the same pattern, this year’s prize will have six categories. The categories are explained as follows:

  1. Near Far – bringing different perspective in the same image
  2. Good Night – focussing on nocturnal or low light ambiance
  3. Hello, Life! – images focussing on human connections or emotions
  4. Faces – portrait shots
  5. Live Moments – short videos or movies with up to 10 minutes in length
  6. Storyteller – telling a story using a series of 3-9 photographs
  • It is not clear if there is a category for Faces as the website mentions it. Huawei describes this category as: “Experimenting with identity, and using the power of portraiture to creatively render a subject”.
