Facebook has confirmed that one of its contractors in its Seattle office has tested positive to coronavirus. The company says it is closing the location until 19th March 2020.
“A contractor based in our Stadium East office has been diagnosed with the COVID-19. We’ve notified our employees and are following the advice of public health officials to prioritize everyone’s health and safety,” Facebook’s company spokesperson, Anthony Harrison told Business Insider.
Facebook adds that it has notified its employees in all Seattle locations and is encouraging them to work from home until the end of March. This comes just a day after Amazon also confirmed that one of its employees was infected by the deadly virus.
In an email to its employees in Seattle, Amazon’s health and safety office had confirmed the news. An employee of the company’s South Lake Union Campus in Seattle had contracted the deadly coronavirus.
“The employee went home feeling unwell on Tuesday, February 25 and has not entered Amazon offices since then,” the email said.
The email also confirms that the employee remains in quarantine. Employees who were in close contact with the person were also notified.
