Facebook Gaming Buys PlayGiga Services For $78 Million

Facebook looks to be expanding its Gaming section and the latest in its suite of services is PlayGiga. The deal is reportedly worth about $78 million. But before this purchase and the earlier stories surrounding the deal, many did not know about PlayGiga.

PlayGiga is a video game streaming service based in Madrid, Spain. Users can get access to premium content for an affordable monthly payment. It was founded in 2013 by Cesar Valencia. It got its last funding in a Series A scheme and its games require a PC with high graphic capabilities.

The company only provided services in Italy, Argentina, Chile and Spain but with Facebook acquiring it, it may increase its reach. Confirming this news, the Facebook Gaming Twitter handle posted about buying PlayGiga:

PlayGiga assured its customers of continued services on its website:

“MOVING ON TO SOMETHING NEW!

We are excited to announce that the PlayGiga team is moving on to something new. We are continuing our work in cloud gaming, now with a new mission. We want to thank all of our partners and customers for their support over the years.

Just sit back and enjoy the magic of cloud gaming.

The world is witnessing an increased growth of cloud gaming. Several big companies are also entering the industry. Google launched its Stadia Cloud gaming service in November and Microsoft also disclosed that it was launching one of its own, xCloud in 2020.

Sony which is already a gaming giant also runs a cloud gaming service, Playstation. The company recently announced that it is reducing the cost of subscriptions to about $9.99. This is likely to make the price more competitive in the cloud gaming market.

Who else will make an entrance before the year ends?

Facebook does not seem like it is stopping soon with its innovations. With Twitter threatening to take all of its social media users, it is buying into different industries. If its cryptocurrency service comes through, it will surely become a much bigger fish in the tech waters.

You may consider getting these gaming services in 2020.
