Facebook said that the media outage caused by glitches its users experienced earlier in the day has been completely resolved. The company made this known in a tweet shared on its official Twitter account early this morning at 7:49 PM ET.

According to Facebook, all its apps and platforms are “back at 100%. ” Instagram also said it resolved its issues. Although some people claim to still be experiencing issues on the apps, a majority are back on track.

Earlier on Wednesday, there were media glitches across Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram. Social media users could not send or upload images, videos or other files on their apps.

There were over 14,000 users who reported issues with Instagram. Meanwhile, over 7,500 and 1,600 users reported issues with Facebook and WhatsApp respectively.

The issue was reported by many users with the hashtag #InstagramDown.

Users experienced the issue far into the night, and the company subsequently blamed it on an error triggered during a “routine maintenance operation.”

Facebook, which owns all three apps, has billions of users across all platforms. Facebook has over 2.3 billion monthly active users, while Instagram has one billion. The glitches occurred while Facebook was reportedly merging the three messaging platforms. However, Facebook did not immediately respond to questions of whether the rewrite caused the outage.

Downdetector’s live outage map showed that the issues were mainly in parts of Europe and the United States.

Meanwhile, its rival, Twitter, also experienced some issues with users unable to send or receive direct messages or receive notifications. The platform tweeted: “We’re currently having some issues with DM delivery and notifications. We’re working on a fix and will follow up as soon as we have an update for you.”
