On Saturday 31st January 2020, the Fast and Furious 9 trailer dropped and it immediately grabbed attention. The ninth installment of the Fast and Furious film, F9 reveals one truth: sci-fi now dominates action films.

Despite this revelation, it is worthy of note that the overall reaction to the release has been positive. However, it is also worth questioning how a film about car racing evolved into sci-fi action entertainment.

No one really knows the outcome of anything from the beginning. Nineteen years ago, in 2001, the first Fast and Furious film was released. It had been a crime story about the two lead actors, Brian O’Conner an undercover cop (played by late Paul Walker); And Dominic Toretto (played by Vin Diesel) a leader of a gang of car hijackers.
But even as far back as the first releases, there had been elements of innovative tech. With some surreal modifications to the race cars used to make it perform much better. However, it had not been the major theme of the movie.
Yet, after watching F9’s trailer, one will without a doubt agree that the film is now more about science fiction than car racing. But it does cater for car race lovers. With high-speed chases and flipping cars, the excitement never gets old.
Also, the resurrection of Han Lue (played by Sung Kang) is a major feature of the trailer. While almost all fans are happy that he back in the film, many are questioning how the character is alive. Some are worried that it will damage the realistic plot and storyline of the film in general.
There is also the appearance of WWE Superstar John Cena in a major role. He seems to be the villain brother of Dom and their fight scenes seem as brutal as anything fans have enjoyed in a while.
Thus, it is likely that the cinemas would surely be teeming come 22nd May. Also many are asking where Cardi B is as she had been rumoured to be part of the cast for the film. With the more than three minutes-long trailer, the producers still suspend us in suspense.
