Over the years, several Nigerian celebrities have been linked with rumours of being gay. We’ve decided to run you through a number of celebrities who have been trailed by such rumours.
1. Bobrisky
Popular cross dresser Bobrisky has made a name for himself by being a controversial celebrity over the last few years. The influencer is known for a lot of claims of being a woman as opposed to him being male.
While Bobrisky has transformed to become more feminine over the years, the influencer has been rumoured to be gay and has oftentimes shared raunchy details of being with a certain ‘Bae’ whom he claims to be a top politician in the country.
Bobrisky has become a celebrity today and continues to enjoy a massive following on social media.
2. Denrele Edun
Popular media personality and model, Denrele Edun has been rumoured to be gay over the years over his several choices of outfits and wearing of female heels. Denrele who has also shared somewhat raunchy photos of himself online has furthermore fuelled the rumours as well.
It can also be recalled that the media personality was linked to Charly Boy when steamy photos of them surfaced online a few years back. His s*xuality remains a debatable topic till date.
3. Alexx Ekubo
Nollywood actor, Alexx Ekubo is another talented actor that managed to have gotten his own share of being trailed by gay rumours. The actor was linked to being in a relationship with fellow actor, Uti, they both have denied it vehemently.
In an instagram post, the talented actor wrote: “Learn to live and let live. If a person wants to be gay, let them be GAY in peace. Personally, I’m not, have never been and will never be. Let’s allow people to be free and comfortable with their s*xual preference. Stop the name calling and shaming.”

4. Uti Nwachukwu
Uti Nwachukwu is another celebrated actor and media personality who has had a successful career, but has not managed to shove off being trailed by gay rumours.
He was rumoured to be with Alexx Ekubo and although, he has denied it severally. Responding to the allegations, he said: “In Nigeria, once you are young in the entertainment industry and you are doing well, the next thing they tag you with is that you are either dating an older woman or that you are gay”.
5. Ik Ogbonna
Nollywood actor, IK Ogbonna is one of the most handsome actors in the Nigerian movie industry and being with looking good comes the gay rumours. A few years ago, a video blogger, Joyce Boakye, popularly known as Bold Pink accused him of being gay and infidelity.
It is a phenomenon that Lesbian, gay, bis*xual and transgender (LGBT) presently face legal and social challenges in Nigeria because of the Country’s strict anti-gay laws that do not tolerate such. Also, it is also known that the penalty for practicing such is 14 years imprisonment if caught and successfully tried.
