When it comes to giving advice, everyone seems to be some sort of psychologist. Just cough and they would advise you to cover your mouth the next time. Now, these are the little things we blurt out which aren’t so bad. but when it comes to giving someone big, life-changing advice, then you need to be careful. Make sure it’s not the worst piece of advice they’ve ever received.

 

Be careful about what kind of advice you give and the ones you listen to. There’s a lot that words can do in impacting your life that you may not be aware of. Some bits of advice can lead you to make drastic decisions that may or may not harm you.

 

People tend to be flippant with their use of words. Even if you mean well, you should take a moment to think or even source for information on how to give good advice, before actually giving it.

 

We reached out to our Plat4om community to find out what sort of bad advice they had ever received. Now, this may seem crazy but a lot of people actually go on ahead to follow such advice. This is why we would be giving reasons why they are actually bad.

 

Five worst pieces of advice ever given

 

Everyone tries to feel like a therapist and that’s fine. But what ticks many off is when they get that oh-so-awful advice. Here are our top five worst pieces of advice.

 

1. Gamble with your school fees

Now our Plat4omer @ralph_kenny shared with us his own worst advice, and we couldn’t stop laughing.

“O boy use your school fees and play bet9ja @plat4om 🤣🤣🤣”

 

2. Marriage for Visa

When it comes to travelling out of Nigeria, some people would do anything just to get to “greener pastures”. This was probably what @zebratinlet’s friend thought when she said this to her.

“Marry him, he’s a ticket to America.”

 

 

3. Stay away from girls in University

Okay, so we’ve heard of parents telling girls that if a man comes near them they would get pregnant. (P.S, that theory is yet to be proven, dear parents!) However, what a Plat4omer, @i_vatar, was told is just outright mean, and somewhat funny.

“Stay away from girls in university…. After 4 years, my best friends were girls and they all helped me study throughout uni…”

4. School is the only way you can be successful

School is great but, in the 21st Century, it’s not the only way to attain success. You need to first know what success is to understand that it can’t be achieved through the University. official_tigerrr_0t_ shared this:

“Ohh boy I need you to be more successful than I am..this school is what made many people successful.” He added, “Lately @muhammadubuhari said degree is no longer a meal ticket.”

 

 

5. Sleep with men to get employed

Whoever gave this advice to #plat4omer’s @iamgodsaves_eby needs an intervention!!!

“That I should sleep with men so that they can give me a job.”
