When you ask some young people for their deal-breaker in relationships, they are always quick to say its cheating. Whether its dating or marriage, people want their spouse or partner to be faithful to them till the end.
But this is not always the story. Few months into the relationship, an unsatisfied partner veers off in search of a new flame.
Recently, we reported the story of Ghanaian actor John Dumelo who revealed that polygamy and polyandry should be legalised. The actor stated that married men who have side chicks or mistresses should be allowed to convert these women to wives.
This means the actor has owned up to the fact that a lot of married people are not staying true to their marital vows.
But why do people cheat? Below are the likely reasons a partner will cheat.
1. When a partner feels unappreciated
A partner will likely cheat if they feel unappreciated in the relationship. This principle applies to almost every sphere of life. If you feel unappreciated at your workplace, you are likely to start job hunting. So when someone is used to being pampered and loved in a relationship and then they suddenly get the vibe that they are not needed anymore, he or she would want to be with someone else that will love and cherish them. This is the beginning of cheating.
2. Money
It is often said that money rules the world. Often times, a partner will go where their financial needs are met. It was said that a woman will cheat on her partner when she meets a wealthy man but sorry to burst your bubble; many men also go for women who are financially stable with a high paying job and better pay.
3. Incompatibility
When a partner sees that they cannot remain in the relationship because the other partner’s goal doesn’t align with theirs, there is the possibility that they will cheat. He or she will look for that person who is in support of their dreams and goals.

4. Bad or no s*x
Good s*x can fuel any relationship. When a partner is not getting s*xual satisfaction in the relationship, he or she may cheat. Also, when partners do not open up on how to please each other s*xually, it may result to cheating as intimacy becomes a task and not an avenue to bond.
5. Loss of interest
A partner would cheat when he or she loses interest and the relationship suddenly becomes boring. Nothing is done to keep the fire burning. The outing reduces, s*x becomes less enjoyable, and suddenly a certain partner becomes “too busy”. A man or woman who has to lose interset will consciously look for a new relationship, and this will result in cheating.
This list isn’t exhaustive, as we will keep dropping more points in subsequent articles. So watch out if you are anywhere close to cheating in your relationship or marriage. You can always retrace your steps now before it’s too late.
