It is common among people who have a dry, flaky scalp. But this doesn’t mean there’s no solution; you just have to get to the root of the problem. The root cause could be your dry scalp. It could also be the result of a skin condition called seborrheic dermatitis. Other causes are psoriasis, eczema or an overgrowth of a yeast-like fungus called Malassezia.
Other causes are:
- Fungal infections
- Sensitivity to products used on hair
- A change in hormone levels
- A weak immune system
- Lack of nutrients
- Changes in the environment
- Genetics
